الثلاثاء، 01 ديسمبر 2020 06:28 م

SODIC celebrated the official opening of Tawasol’s new Community School at the heart of the impoverished neighborhood of Istabl Antar in Ezbet Khairallah. The school is Tawasol’s second in the neighborhood, having established the first in 2008 to cater to children who had escaped schooling to re-enroll them into the education system. Unique for its development approach, Tawasol’s first school provides ministry certified education along with vocational training and an expanded performing arts program.

Built over 1,050 m2 with a capacity to host over 500 students and finished and equipped at international school standards, the new school will provide a larger group of students with the same multi-disciplinary experience in a much healthier and well equipped environment. Facilities include a science lab, theatre, library, gym, food court, medical clinics and auditorium among many others. The school will as well act as a community hub, offering health services that include free weekly checkups and funding programs for students and neighboring community members.

We have been working with Tawasol for over 10 years, we have watched the community school grow, we were there when this land was bought and every step on this long journey to this day, this school is a dream come true for SODIC as well.” said Magued Sherif, SODIC’s Managing Director.

“Education is one of our strongest corporate citizenship platforms, we are very proud of Tawasol and are privileged to have played a small part in this big victory for the community of Ezbet Khairallah.”

The opening was attended by H.E Dr. Hala El Saeed; Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Khaled Abdel Aal, Cairo Governor and Mohamed Abou Youssef, Tawasol NGO Co- founder.
