Engineering Solutions to contract EGP2bn projects in 2021
Khattab: Contracting with "Minka for Real Estate Development” for the Hoft project" in New Cairo
The company is planning to contract with developers of high-rise buildings in the Downtown area ofthe Administrative Capital.
The leading Sustainable Building consulting & certification, Engineering Solutions “ES" aims to supervisethe implementation of various real estate projects with construction value of 2 billion pounds during2021as part of the company's expansion plan in the market by adding a portfolio of new projects to itsbusiness.
The engineering consultant, Amgad Khattab, CEO of "ES" for green and sustainable buildings, said, "Withthe transformation in the real estate sector in Egypt and the entry of new real estate products such ashigh-rise towers, administrative, commercial, hotel, and medical buildings, especially in theadministrative capital and the new Alamein and with the state’s drive to save energy and preserving theenvironment, sustainable buildings have become necessary and it is expected that it will witnessincreased growth during the coming period.
Khattab added that the company took over the supervision of the implementation of more than 12various projects by which it implemented the sustainability requirements and obtained a "LEED" certificate from the United States of America, and the implementation value of these projects reached 3.5billion pounds.
The CEO of the company indicated that the most booming contracts with Minka Real EstateDevelopment Company for the administrative project "The Hoft" in New Cairo to implement LEED requirements for sustainable buildings in the project. The project's construction cost is EGP 220 million, which is an administrative hotel project built on an area of 15 thousand square meters and isscheduled to be completed and delivered in 2023.
Khattab clarified that the company has been working in the market for more than 10 years, during whichit has supervised the implementation of many sustainable projects that meet the requirements of greenand sustainable buildings and has obtained the global LEED certificate, pointing out that the greenbuilding is the building that takes into account environmental considerations in every stage of buildinglife cycle, which is the design, construction, operation and maintenance, and the main considerationsthat are taken into account are energy and water efficiency, resource use efficiency, enhanced indoor environmental quality of the building, and reducing the negative impact of the building on theenvironment during its life cycle.
Khattab added that the main difference between green buildings and traditional buildings is the conceptof integration, where a multidisciplinary team of specialists works together from the pre-design stage tothe operation stage to improve the environmental sustainability properties of the building, improve performance and save operational costs, pointing out that it is a common mistake in the real estatemarket that Green buildings are expensive to construct, and in fact, the increase in construction costs to construct a sustainable building and to obtain a LEED certificate does not exceed 1 to 4% of the total construction cost.
Khattab pointed out that the company focuses its business in the real estate market in general and thenew administrative capital and the new Alamein in particular due to the volume of real estate projects that are implemented in the two areas in addition to the quality of the real estate product, which are the towers on which the business is currently focusing on.
