MINISTER OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY OPENS 18TH EDITION OF PLASTEX

Showcasing MENA’s growing plastics industry, the live and in-person PLASTEX 2022 re-connects buyers with leading international and local manufacturers and distributors

Egypt’s burgeoning plastics industry will be in full view over the next four days as PLASTEX 2022, the country’s leading industry and networking platform, kicks off today (January 9) under the patronage of H.E Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The exhibition was officially inaugurated, by Her Excellency Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, in the presence of other dignitaries.

Co-organised by dmg events and ACG–ITF, PLASTEX will run until January 12th and is set to bring together more than 22,000 attendees over the four days, with 300 local and international exhibitors participating.

On the VIP inauguration tour, H.E Nevine Gamea spent time with some of the industry’s most prominent players and saw a number of new market products and innovations. Khalfan AlMuhairi, Senior Vice President, Middle East, Africa and Exports, Borouge commented: “Egypt is a key strategic market and presents us with attractive collaboration opportunities between the UAE and Egypt. We are confident about the growth and promise of the Egyptian market and are committed to building on our legacy. Speaking from the Show, exhibitor Emeraude International is confident that the next four days will turn up some good leads and potential business in the coming months; “This is our third time participating at PLASTEX. It is very important for us to be part of this exhibition, so far the engagement has been amazing, we were able to meet a lot of our customers and potential ones as well. This year we are displaying our recycling zone that (invested with D Grade) where we turn plastic bottles to threads. We would like to encourage people to always recycle all 100% plastic made things through Emeraude green” said Omar Rafik, CO at Emeraude International.

The 18th edition is set to elevate Egypt's global standing in plastics by bringing together global multi-national organisations, including Gold Sponsor Borouge, Silver Sponsors ADEKA AL OTAIBA Middle East LLC & Transmar.

Outside of the traditional exhibitor offering, PLASTEX points to the industry’s future with increasing numbers of exhibitors from who focus on sustainability, recycling and technology.

German manufacturer KraussMaffei sees PLASTEX as an important networking platform; “The aim of us being here is to meet new customers and meet the ones we are currently dealing with. We manufacture injection moulding machines, so far, we see that the footfall is great and we hope this continues till the last day. We aim to educate new potential clients about what we do,” said Amr Yousef, Executive Director, KraussMaffei.
