Arab Contractors implements two bridges in Derna، Libya
The Libyan city of Derna witnessed the signing ceremony of major reconstruction contracts for the implementation of two bridges in the Libyan cities of Derna and Sousse، where the contracts were signed by Eng. Belqasim Haftar - Executive Director of the Reconstruction Fund for Derna and Affected Areas، and Eng. Ahmed El Assar – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company، which is executing the works at the Fund’s headquarters in Derna.
Rebuilding cities
This signing comes within the framework of the Libyan government’s efforts، led by Libyan Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hammad، to take urgent measures to rebuild the cities affected by Hurricane Daniel.
The signing included contracts for the construction of new bridges at the western entrance to the city of Derna، which was swept away by floods following Storm Daniel، including a bridge at the top of Wadi Abu Mahboul (Abu Mahboul valley) and a bridge at the top of Wadi Markus (Valley of Saint Mark) on the sea road linking the cities of Sousse and Derna.
Following the contract signing ceremony، Eng. Belqassim Khalifa stressed “the necessity of completing the work as soon as possible in order to solve the bottlenecks that the city of Derna suffers from، with the need to maintain quality.”.
For his part، Eng. Ahmed El Assar – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company، welcomed the cooperation with the Reconstruction Fund for Derna and Affected Areas، which comes within the framework of historical relations between Egypt and Libya، stressing that the company is honored to continue cooperation with the Libyan brothers، which extends since 1966، indicating that this cooperation comes within the framework of the Egyptian commitment and the national duty towards the Libyan brothers، especially in the context of reconstruction، indicating that the company will use the latest methods in implementing the two projects، taking into account the highest international quality standards.
Vital projects in Libya
The contract signing was attended by Eng. Hatem Al Araibi - Head of the Benghazi Reconstruction Committee; Eng. Hassan Mustafa – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company، Eng. Anas Al Saghir - Supervisor of the AC Company’s Branch in Libya، and Eng. Raafat Al Mahrouqi - Manager of the AC Company’s Branch in Libya.
It is noteworthy that the Arab Contractors Company had previously contributed to development and vital projects in Libya and was one of the first countries in which the company worked abroad، as it implemented many vital projects such as roads، bridges، ports، power plant projects، universities، military and tourism facilities، airports، water stations، and housing. It also participated recently at the International Conference for the Reconstruction of the Stricken City of Derna and Neighboring Cities and Towns، among 132 Arab and foreign companies.
