Egypt’s residents are permitted to flock to up to 70 hotels during the holiday of the Muslim feast of Eid El-Fitr, after they received the health safety certificate, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

On top of health guidelines laid out by the Egyptian government and the World Health Organization are the prohibition of hookah and the acceptance of only two adults and one child in the family room, according to governmental hygienic guidelines.

The 70 hotels, approved by a governmental inspection committee last week, are permitted to receive Egypt’s residents as of 15 May with a maximum capacity of 25 percent.

The hotels are in the five governorates of the Red Sea, South Sinai, Alexandria, Suez, and Cairo.

Other hotels that attempted to be licensed but in vain, were given the option to re-apply for reoperation.

While being allowed to accommodate guests at a 50 percent capacity as of early June, the licensed hotels may not hold parties, weddings, and overnight activities.

Also included among the stringent hygienic measured is the allocation of a small facility at every resort for isolating confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases.

A clinic with a resident doctor, personal protective kits, and disinfecting materials must be available at the licensed hotels.

The Egyptian government first halted international flights in March and decided lately to extend the suspension.

Ministry of Health and Population recorded 752 new cases of coronavirus and up to 29 new fatalities on Sunday. That said, total confirmed cases infected with Covid-19 disease jumped to 17265, of which 4807 were recovered and 764 cases died.
