Ayman Ismail to “Osoul Misr”: We aim to develop strategies to support the private sector to achieve sustainability
On the sidelines of the COP27 climate conference events, currently being held in Sharm El-Sheikh, a dialogue session is being organized in the presence of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UNGC Egypt, Engineer Tarek El-Gamal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Redcon Development Company, Dr. Ahmed Rostom, Senior Financial Sector Specialist Finance Competiveness, A.S.G. Sanda Ojaimbo, Assistant Secretary General and CEO, UN Global Compact and Ms. Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator, Egypt.

UNGC is part of the United Nations and works under its umbrella. Ayman Ismail was selected to chair its board of directors months ago. No company from the private sector that is not a member of the UNGC is allowed to be present during the COP27 conference.
Achieving the 17 sustainability goals
Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UNGC Egypt, said in exclusive statements to "Osoul Misr" that the association's goal is to work on developing strategies that assist the private sector in achieving the 17 sustainability goals.
Raising awareness of private sector companies
He stated that work is being currently done on 3 axes, which are to raise awareness of private sector companies and attract them to be members of the association, ask them to develop plans and visions for how to achieve the specific sustainability goals of the United Nations, and a semi-annual follow-up is conducted to assess the results of achieving the plan in reality as well as identify the companies points required to strengthen and develop.

"After determining these points, training courses are conducted to develop skills and competencies under the supervision of the United Nations," he added.
He pointed out that most of the world's companies are members of UNGC, and there are a large number of them in Egypt.
He indicated that the association is present during the climate conference in the blue and green zones. Communication with officials and the private sector is conducted daily with discussing ways to advance sustainability.
