Ahmed Fahmy: New Administrative Capital accommodates 6.5 million citizens

Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) company paid a great efforts in terms of accelerating completion rates of utilities and services projects within New Administrative Capital (NAC) project as well as providing lands that are connected with infrastructure for investment. In addition to، private sector companies’ keenness to complete projects quickly، to achieve the targeted development results in the first phase of the NAC in record time to officially begin life there.

More than 400 real estate developers operate in the New Capital and develop more than 500 projects

Fahmy added that the more than 400 real estate development companies are currently operating at NAC project and they are developing more than 500 projects، as there are companies that have acquired more than one plot of land in the NAC.

Projects vary between integrated urban residential project، mixed-use، entertainment، educational، and others.

He added that the ACUD aims to attract approximately one million residents in 2025، while after the complete development، it aims to accommodate about 6.5 million people.

He noted that work had been done from day one to complete utilities such as water، sewage، roads and electricity networks to accommodate the 6.5 million people، and this was taken into account in the planning as well.

He explained that the New Capital receives more than 48000 employees daily who commute the government district، along with more than 10000 students after operating 6 universities and 12 schools.

He pointed out that 12 new schools will be opened next year.

Investment opportunities

He explained that planning for the second، third، and fourth phases of the New Administrative Capital will begin، as the global Dar Al-Handasah alliance won a global tender put forward by the ACUD to plan the second، third، and fourth phases.

This comes within the process of completing the development of New Administrative Capital in its various stages، in light of near completion of main projects in the first phase of the New Capital.

The winning consortium will also prepare studies on the development of the growth of the city and the industrial zone، with the plan eventually being integrated with surrounding cities، reaching 30 June axis in the east.

The NAC’s second phase spans over 40000 acres، which is the same area as the first phase.

He elaborated that developers are required to implement structural design and technical codes as well as a visual identity to maintain the aesthetic appearance.

Transportation

The RTA Rapid Transit has been operated and transports customers from central Cairo to the New Capital، in addition to buses and various public transportation، Fahmy noted.

He disclosed that the monorail is expected to be operated during the current year.

Implementing an online road monitoring system to prevent congestion

“The prime location of the NAC makes it connected to all parts of the Republic، as it is 50 km away from Cairo Governorate and 50 km from Ain Sokhna، and is connected to many major roads and axes implemented by the state، such as the Regional Ring Road and the Central Ring Road” Fahmy said.

“Additionally، roads in the NAC have been planned in a way that takes into account traffic densities and that there will be no overcrowding or congestion.

An online traffic control system and electronic signals will be implemented، and there will be no traffic police presence.”

He added that coordination is currently being made with the competent authorities to finish the NAC’s international airport.

The New Capital International Airport is located several kilometers from the NAC، and about 30 kilometers east of Cairo International Airport.

The airport also connects the Cairo-Suez road through a free interchange to reduce traffic congestion.

Fahmy concluded that roads and services currently available in the New Capital allow families to move and live in the city completely.
