Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Ambassadors of Switzerland and Sweden witness the Launch of a Sustainability Strategy and Expansion of Production Lines for Entry into European Markets
▪ ABB’s 10th of Ramadan Factories Launch New Production Lines, Strengthening Its Role as a Global Hub for Manufacturing and Exporting Clean Energy Solutions to Global markets.
ABB Egypt, the leading power and automation technology group, marked a significant milestone in its energy solutions production journey with a high-profile visit to its state-of-the-art factory in the 10th of Ramadan City by Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, accompanied by Andreas Baum, the Swiss Ambassador to Egypt and Håkan Emsgård, the Swedish Ambassador to Egypt.
During the event, they witnessed the launch of the company's sustainability strategy, which is centered around several key initiatives implemented by the company. This aligns with ABB's commitment to supporting the transition towards a low-carbon economy and clean, sustainable energy solutions.
They also witnessed the company's plans to expand into new markets in the region and open several new and innovative production lines.
Through this ambitious approach, ABB aims to deliver integrated solutions that contribute to achieving clean energy sustainability while reinforcing ABB Egypt factory’s position as a key hub for manufacturing and exporting clean energy and electrical industry solutions to international markets, setting a new standard for the industry in the region.
Expressing his gratitude for the esteemed presence of the distinguished guests at the ABB Egypt’s factories Ahmed Hammad, Chairman of ABB Egypt, stated: “This visit underscores the Egyptian government’s support for industry and clean energy solutions, aligning with its ambitious strategy to achieve energy sustainability. By leveraging its diverse energy resources, Egypt is well-positioned to become a global energy hub connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa.”
Strong commitment to innovation
Hammad further highlighted ABB’s strong commitment to innovation and export growth, stating: "At ABB, we are executing a comprehensive sustainability strategy aimed at achieving net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Key initiatives include installing solar panels to fully meet the energy needs of our plant, greatly reducing our carbon footprint." "Additionally, we have launched an electric vehicle (EV) fleet to eliminate transportation emissions. We are also focused on a zero-waste program, leveraging advanced waste management and recycling technologies," Hammad added.

With its commitment to innovation and development, the factory has established itself as a key hub for manufacturing and exporting clean energy solutions. Furthermore, we have recently achieved a significant milestone by delivering the first SSU unit for renewable energy applications to a solar station in southern Germany, further solidifying ABB’s position as a global leader in sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, the factory supported the expansion of Athens International Airport by supplying UniPack-G Compact Substations, providing an efficient and reliable solution for power distribution.”
Expressing his gratitude for the significant role played by the 10th of Ramadan factories, Mohamed Salem, ABB Egypt’s Factories Manager commented: “The ABB factory in the 10th of Ramadan City has established itself as a global hub for manufacturing Compact Substations SKID, leveraging its advanced technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities in the manufacture of medium and low voltage panels. Currently, we export these products to European countries, including Germany and Greece, American countries such as Arguay, Panama and Brazil in addition to the countries of the Middle East and Africa and we are looking forward to expanding into new markets, particularly in the solar energy and data center sectors.”

The ABB factories in the 10th of Ramadan City stand as a flagship of industrial excellence. With 45 years of experience in production and manufacturing, ABB has established itself as a strategic partner to the Egyptian government, contributing to iconic national projects. Notably, ABB played a key role in Toshka Mega Station Project and Project of the Bahr Al-Baqar Plant, located east of Port Said, which holds three Guinness World Records: the world’s largest water treatment plant, the second-largest pollutant treatment facility, and the largest plant utilizing ozone technology for sterilization—setting new standards in water purification.
