Up to 30,000sqm interlock and 200,000m curbstone were procured for projects tailored to turn Sharm El Sheikh into a green city

To ratchet up its contribution to Mega National projects and the state’s development and construction plans, Egy Crete finished off procuring 75% of interlock tiles and environment-friendly concrete products within the grand plan put in place to turn Egypt into a green city, in preparation for the climate summit conference COP27.

Egy Crete’s environment friendly products were made use of in development works at Sharm El Sheikh City, Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, Ras Mohamed, El Nour neighborhood, as more than 30,000sqm interlock tiles and  200,000m curbstones have been procured.

A plethora of mega projects

According to Mustafa Mufeed, deputy chairman and managing director at Capriole Group, the company managed in a record time to carry out  a plethora of mega projects in Egypt, with it supplying world-class  environment-friendly concrete products.

Egy Crete, he continued, has introduced myriad products into the Egyptian market for the first time, including the decor tiles which come with a huge variety of colors, designs and materials and could  work as an alternative for green surfaces and  landscapes without compromising environmental standards nor  green building system. Decor tiles are corrosion resistant products whose colors never faint.

Decor tiles are used currently in projects that seek to add aesthetic view through the introduction of high-end promenades, he noted.

The company’s products are made use of in other mega projects alongside upgrading Sharm El Sheikh City, as they are used in carrying out strategic projects, such as airports, land ports, universities and 4-Generation cities.

“ Among the vital projects that Egy Crete’s products were tapped is the land port at the 10th of Ramadan City, for which more than 100,000 curbstones have been procured, together with  New Cairo Pearl which used  more than 65,000sqm interlock tiles. Additionally, up to 35,000sqm interlock tiles and 30,000 curbstones were used up by Banha  University.

Also, the development of New Damietta, New Mansoura and Ras El Bar required the procurement of up to 200,000sqm interlock tiles.

More than 29,000sqm of interlock tiles have been procured for the purpose of upscaling Dekhela port, 50,000sqm interlock tiles for New Mansoura Universities project, 100,000sqm of interlock tiles, 80,000 curbstones  for Ahalina project at Gesr El Suez,  30,000m of curbstones for Al Asmarat project and 50,000sqm of interlock tiles for the expansion of sanitary station at 6th of October City, he added.

The company seeks to increase the volume of output at its new plant built in Sadat city late 2022, on top of three plans owned by the company in Badr city.

Egy Crete was keen on building its plants in areas that could be accessed from across the country with the aim of securing the supply of inputs, curtailing transportation costs which constitute no less than 10 to 15% of the aggregate expenses and fulfilling the requirements of protecting the environment through reducing emissions and wastes, he maintained.

The company is eager to observe all sustainability considerations, as the remaining blocks are smashed by  special crushers and recycled into new projects. Also plastics residues are recycled, special filters are used to purify the air and modern suction devices so as to protect  public hygiene.
