Japanese automaker Nissan to export China made green cars to global markets

Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor chief executive officer، announced this week thay it would sell China-developed green cars and electric vehicles (EVs) globally as it struck a deal with the country's top university to leverage local resources to accelerate research and development on electrification and it is aiming exporting at the same overseas markets as Chinese rivals such as BYD.


Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor chief executive officer is considering exporting the line-up of existing internal combustion engine vehicles and upcoming pure gree cars including electric and plug-in hybrid cars manufactured and developed in China to overseas markets.

Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor chief executive officer، is joining foreign brands including American Tesla، Ford and German BMW that are expanding their exports of China made cars to exploit the country's lower manufacturing costs of producing green cars and increase the capacity utilisation of their factories.


Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor chief executive officer، stated that it would establish a joint research centre with China's leading Tsinghua University next year، focussing on research and development of green cars and EVs، including charging infrastructure and battery recycling.


Nissan Motor to increase green cars sales


Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor chief executive officer، wants to increase green cars sales as China accounted for just over 20% of Nissan's worldwide sales of about 2.8 million vehicles over the first 10 months of the year، down from over 33% for the same period last year.


Masashi Matsuyama، vice president of Nissan Motor and president of Nissan China، told reporters in Beijing that Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor chief executive officer،hopes that this collaboration will help gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese market and develop strategies that better meet the needs of customers in China.

Nissan Motor will buy parts from Renault-Geely venture

Nissan Motor and Renault are working together following years of growing tensions


Makoto Uchida، Japanese automaker، Nissan Motor President and chief executive officer، confirmed that these steps are part of a major revamp of working together following years of growing tensions، allowing the manufacturers to take on new partners and independent ventures.


This includes Renault’s plan to list its green cars business، targeting a valuation of as much as €10 billion with both Nissan and Mitsubishi pledging significant investments to work together in new ways to realise benefits as partners according to Nissan chief executive officer Makoto Uchida.


Green batteries could be licensed by Renault and Mitsubishi in future


Makoto Uchida، Japanese carmaker، Nissan Motor President and chief executive officer، hopes that the Japanese’s solid-state batteries، the potential next technology breakthrough for green cars and EVs، could be licensed by Renault and Mitsubishi in the future.


The two companies، Renault and Nissan rebalanced their 24-year-old alliance last month as they announced the creation of a French trust to which Renault transferred 28.4% of Nissan shares and Renault and Nissan said in February they will invest US$600 million in India to expand their car lineup، add jobs and decarbonise a manufacturing plant in Chennai.
